Pure Shilajit resin (Suryatapi) 30g jar
Superior quality and sourcing
Our Shilajit is unlike any other on the market. This Shilajit is traditionally produced in the Suryatapi method, and takes around one year to be slowly purified in the sun “Surya" in a special herbal decoction. The maker we source from comes from a multigenerational family of Ayurvedic medicine makers. It is hand made in small batches in Nepal, and third party tested in the US for heavy metals and impurities.
What is Shilajit?
Shilajit is a major Rasayana or rejuvenating remedy in Ayurvedic medicine. Shilajit (Asphaltum bitumen) is a natural substance found mainly in the Himalayas, formed for centuries by the gradual decomposition of certain plants by the action of microorganisms. The black rocky resin oozes slowly from the rocks and cliffs, in warmer weather. Shilajit is composed mainly of humic substances, including fulvic acid, that account for around 60% to 80% of the total nutraceutical compound plus some oligoelements. Shilajit also contains a wide range of mineral and trace minerals such as magnesium, manganese, antimony, cobalt, copper, iron, lithium, phosphorous, strontium, and zinc.
Studies on pharmacological actions of Shilajit
Useful for high altitude adjustment
Accelerates mineral and protein metabolism, supports bone and tissue growth
Improves peripheral circulation
Shown to lower blood sugar and LDL/VLDL cholesterol levels while increasing HDL levels.
In animal studies, it enhanced HPA axis and mitochondrial function and relieved CFIDS symptoms.
In a human study (RCT) active men were given either 250 mg or 500 mg of Shilajit or a placebo for 8 weeks. The higher dose Shilajit promoted the retention of maximal muscle strength after muscle exhausting exercise, while also inhibiting hydroxyproline levels, an indicator of collagen degradation. This supports its traditional use to promote strength, energy and endurance.
In a RCT of people with type 2 diabetes, a Shilajit improved endothelial function, while reducing hs-CRP, total and LDL cholesterol, triglycerides and malondialdehyde.
